Bijagua is a paradise for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. The area is home to a diverse range of habitats, from high-elevation cloud forests to low-elevation Caribbean slopes, providing opportunities for a wide variety of species. The combination of lush vegetation, diverse elevations, and the presence of several protected areas make it a prime location for wildlife observation.
Tapir Valley Nature Reserve, for example, is known for its rich biodiversity, including the iconic Tody Motmot, Yellow-eared Toucanet, and the newly-discovered Tapir Valley Tree Frog. And, of course, Tapir Valley is the center of the world's largest Baird's Tapir conservation program.
Cataratas Bijaguais known for its beautiful waterfalls and the diversity of bird species that can be found in the area.
Don Alejo's Trails is a great place to see a variety of additional bird species, that are found a bit higher and closer to the Pacific slope.
