Tapir Valley becomes a different world after sunset. Animals that stay hidden during the day start to move, call and feed, and the forest fills with sounds you won't hear in daylight. On this three-hour night walk, a local guide who is a certified naturalist takes you through the valley to look for them.
What you might see
Tapir Valley is home to the endangered Baird's tapir, and the night is a good time to look for it. Along the trails we also search for snakes such as the fer-de-lance and the eyelash viper, many kinds of frogs, insects and other nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat. Your guide uses specialized lighting to find and watch animals safely, without disturbing them. Wildlife is wild, so every night is different.
Who it suits
The walk is easy to moderate, depending on your ability and fitness, and it suits nature lovers of all levels. Every tour is private, so we go at your pace and take time to answer your questions. Boots and flashlights are provided, and your entry fee to Tapir Valley is included.
